Obituary of Marian Carol Schipper

Schipper, Marian Carol, 90, passed away suddenly where she resided at Sunrise of Edgewater on Thursday, March 30, 2017. She was born to Michael and Esther Schapiro on February 17, 1927. She attended Hunter College and later received her Doctorate of Education from NYU. She spent most of her career as a teacher, first in elementary school and later as a Professor of Education at Jersey City State College. She enjoyed traveling, was an avid reader, and most of all, loved children and was dedicated to her own and to her grandchildren helping to care for them both in Colorado and New Jersey. She resided in Cranford, NJ from 1958 until 1996 and always considered that to be her home. She moved to Colorado to be close to her daughter and grandchildren in 1996. She was happy when they all moved back to NJ residing in Morristown from 2006 until 2013. She lived briefly in Bridgewater and Edgewater. She is survived by her son, Gary Hausman, of New York City, her daughter, Amy Hausman, of Glenwood Springs, Colorado, her grandchildren, Jessica and Mark Richardson, and her stepdaughters, Vicky Frankel and Wendy Wicks, and sister Susan Brody. She was preceded in death by her husbands Eugene A. Hausman and Edgar Schipper. A Memorial Service will be held on Sunday, April 9, 2017 at 12:00 noon at Eden Memorial Chapels, 327 Main St. Fort Lee, NJ (888-700-3336). Memorial donations may be made to the Southern Poverty Law Center and Planned Parenthood.
