Obituary of Charles Lipson
Charles M. Lipson- August 12, 1941 / March 24, 2018
Chuck Lipson passed away after spending the day doing what he loved. Spending time with his family, eating ice cream, watching his beloved New York Mets and listening to 50’s music. While Alzheimer's and Dementia robbed him of his ability to speak, it did not take away his ability and drive to communicate.
After serving his country in the 385th MP Battalion, Chuck spent most of his professional career in the garment center. However, it was his time outside of work for which he will be most remembered and for which he had the greatest impact. He was a tireless volunteer for the community and for his children. Over his life he served as Aquatics Chairperson at the JCC on the Palisades, Tenafly Recreation Commission Chairperson, USA Swimming Official, President of the Tenakill Swim Club, Ridgewood YMCA Swim Team Executive Board, Member of the Tenafly Town Council and Fire Commissioner.
He also had a tremendous zest for life. Would wake up before dawn to be first on line at the county golf course to get in his weekend round. Enjoyed going out to restaurants and was an excellent cook. Whether he was making dinner for his family or manning the grill at Swim Club “Family Nights” and weekend barbecues. He especially enjoyed his Friday Night Pizza with a close group of friends.
He is survived by his wife of 51 (almost 52) years, Judith, his sister Ann, his Son Mark, Daughter-in-law Christine and their dogs Enzo (a frequent visitor to him at the Paramus Veteran's Home) and Myles, his Daughter Beth, Son-in-law Doug, their cat Freeloader and dog Rosebud who would often be found sitting on Chuck’s lap.
Funeral to take place at 12:30 at Temple Sinai of Bergen County, 1 Engle Street, Tenafly, NJ 07670. Burial to follow at Riverside Cemetary, 12 Market Street, Saddle Brook, NJ 07663. Shiva from 3:00-8:00pm in the Founders Hall at Temple Sinai, 1 Engle Street, Tenafly NJ.
