Obituary of Samuel Zelmanowitz
Zelmanowitz, Samuel age 98, on Sunday April 28, 2019. Beloved wife to Aline Zelmanowitz. Loving father to Leah Jaffe of Arizona and Sharon Zelmanowitz of Connecticut. Sam was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather. He lived to be almost 99 years old. After escaping the holocost he returned to Europe as an American GI. He served honorably and bravely, landing on the Normandy with the third wave. He returned to the U.S. an American citizen and became a cutter in the garment district in New York City. In 1970 he put down his shears and became a food service manager in the family nursing home business. Sam spent many hours caring for his grandchildren, feeding them, playing with them, driving them and pushing their strollers until they dropped off to sleep. He worked hard his whole life and never let his family down. He was brilliant and funny. He loved the Bronx, the New York Times, the Yiddish language and most of all his family. We will miss him. There will be a graveside service on Tuesday May 30, 2019 at 12 Noon. For information, condelences or directions please call 201-947-EDEN or www.edenmemorial.com
