Our deepest condolences to the Stein Family. Our thoughts and prayer are with you. We have so many memories of Walter in our travels with NJLBHA. We shared our love for public health, EMS and our alma mater Columbia. His language skills were amazing and he would always greet us by speaking really good Greek. One of the best memories was a time we all went to Atlanta for some CDC training. There were about 8 of us cramped into a taxi going out to dinner. Walter sat in the front with the driver and began speaking to him in an African language with the appropriate dialect; carrying on a long conversation. The taxi driver seemed so pleased to be able to speak to him. And he amazed all of us that night as well.
Walter will be truly missed by so many.

The Williams Family would like to extend our deepest sympathy to the entire Stein Family. I met Walter approximately 11 years ago. Walter appeared to have a lot of rough edges until he decided if he liked you or not. I would like to think that he grew to not only like me but confided in me. Walter shared a lot about life, people, and cultures. I am happy that I met Walter and thankful for the contributions he made towards my journey. R.I.P Walter.
