Martin Warshofsky

Obituary of Martin Warshofsky

Martin Warshofsky, called Poppy by many who loved him, passed away on Sunday April 19, 2020 at the age of 84. Marty was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather. He was born on December 10, 1935, in New York City. He served in the army and was president of Superior Knicker, Inc., the family business where he spent his entire professional career. He married Judith Rochelle Gross on February 4, 1956 and together they shared a passion for their family, traveling the world, and sharing great times with the people they loved. Marty had a razor sharp wit and the right joke for any situation (Judy may disagree with the last statement). When he wasn’t making people laugh, you could find him behind a camera preserving cherished moments during family celebrations. He also enjoyed country music, sleeping during Broadway plays, good corned beef, westerns and classic comedy shows. Marty is survived by his wife, Judy; brother, Fred; children, Anne and Steven Gordon, Mark and Laurie Warshofsky; grandchildren David and Lauren Gordon, Joshua and Hannah Gordon, Megan, Emma, and Sarah Warshofsky; great-grandchildren Finley Gordon and Ada Gordon. He will also be missed by his many other relatives and friends; and all those who need just a clever joke to lighten their day. Graveside services will be private. The family will plan a celebration of Marty’s life when current gathering restrictions are lifted.
