Obituary of George J. Vago

George Joseph ‘Jurai’ Vago, age 91, of West Orange, passed away on Friday April 9, 2021. George was Born on June 15, 1929, in Vrutky, Czechoslovakia to Blanka and Arpad Vago. He grew up in the mountains of Czechoslovakia where he grew fond of skiing and hiking in nature. He received his graduate training in mechanical engineering from the Czech Technical University in Prague and Berkeley College in California. Devoted Husband to Danielle Vago (nee: Unger). Loving father to Michelle and David (Sonia), Papa to Maya and Gabby, Opa to Mica and Malina. George had a rich network of friends and extended family around the world whom he adored. George had a long mechanical engineering career in heat transfer design and retired in 2001. George was a holocaust survivor and had a strong affinity with the Jewish community. To all those who knew him, George was a kind soul with a ‘joie de vivre’ and a sense of adventure that was infectious. His wisdom, kindness, and dry humor will forever be cherished.
