Our Dear Murray was a kind gentle soul whom loved greeting people at GiGi’s Boutique at Golden East Crossing Mall in the 1990s. He instantly made friends out of strangers. Everyone in the mall knew and loved him and customers would pop-in just to see his cheerfully healing smiling face. He was a true inspiration and a source of encouragement for all whom knew him. For these 81 years of his life, our eyes saw the gracious countenance of God Almighty resting upon His humble servant. May our merciful Lord grant him eternal rest, peace and joy. Salutes to the memory of his mom and dad who founded Tri-County Industries in Rocky Mount, NC to enrich the lives of Murray and countless others; Salutes to the memory of his faithful brother Herbie who lovingly cared for Murray in Rocky Mount along with his devoted wife, Gladys Greenberg (condolences to Gladys); and Salutes & deepest sympathy to his faithful and dedicated sister, Mary Beth who lovingly and tirelessly oversaw Murray’s care to the very end. To God be the Glory for He hath done great things!!!
Herbie & Gladys Greenberg’s God-Son,

My deepest condolences...
I know it had been a while since I have seen Murray but I alway hung on to memories of him. Murray was such a delight. I remember always walking into his apartment saying “Hiiii Murray” as loud as I can just to get a good reaction out of him. He always knew how to keep him self busy with listening to his voicemail, playing his games and watching his old game shows. Murray knew everything, he wasn’t much of a teacher though... he would just jump up and do it himself. I remember when I asked him one too many questions on how to make his morning coffee and before I knew it he was headed towards the kitchen saying “I’ll just do it”.... he was quick with that walker. Murray was also such a flirt always calling someone his sweetheart or saying “thank you honey” when you did something for him. Murray was such a sweetie and would always put a smile on my face when I was there. Murray is well missed by all especially me!
Sleep in peace Murray.

Dear Mary Beth,
There are no words...that I have to share with you that can soothe your broken heart....I can not imagine all that you are feeling right now. But please know your brother has left this world a better place...he will never be forgotten.
Murray was always a true gentleman. He shook you hand and always had something to say that would bring a smile to you face.
When you really think about it there is always something to smile about...and hat is one of the lessons I hold on to most.
Murray never was lost in the craziness of the day...and always showed each of us a better way to be in the moment.
Murray lived his life the way he wanted and always did what he found meaningful!
Listening to his voice mail messages. Working on his phone and computer...
Demonstrating how to use all of his complicated technology...talking about all of his experiences and all the girlfriends he had...and to be very honest truly in the moment you were his most favorite one of all!
Murray was always true to himself. He always thought everything out carefully before deciding what was best for him at the moment in time. No one could change his mind when he made a decision.
So many lessons learned. So many memories tucked in our hearts and minds.
What I will always remember first is when he called me “Sweetheart” and then flashed that million dollar smile...all your worries just melted off your shoulders.
Everything was always alright because you were Murray’s sweetheart! Just knowing this continues to make all the difference in the world!
God Bless You Murray!
And until we meet again...
I promise I will look out for your sister...
so please no worries...
Please watch over us and when you can please send us a sign to remind us of what life is all about just in case we get a little lost!
Thank you Murray... for all that you have shared with me...
I love you Murray!
Your Sweetheart,
Lisa

My condolences to the Greenberg family, words fall short of expressing my sorrow. I still can't believe that he is gone. I still think I'm going to come into his apartment, and find him playing his slot machines or tinkering with his gadgets. Murray always was so curious about how things worked. I loved how Murray was so expressive about his feelings so sweet and kind. one thing I know is that MaryBeth is heartbroken. Murray talked to her everyday she was his Center and a Pillar of Strength to him. I have always admired their relationship. Murray you will be missed dearly. As he would say "I love you sweetheart" and you are loved and will be loved forever.

Murray was so sweet and so kind. He was my fathers brother and he and his siblings were all so devoted to each other. After he tragically lost his mother and brothers in short succession, my grandmother, Sylvia Greenberg, my father, David Greenberg, and my uncle, Herb Greenberg he remained cheerful and loving. I enjoyed spending time with him because he was always so easy to be around! I will love and miss him forever...

My condolences to the family. Murray had a wonderful life, full of joy and happiness. Love plays an important role in Murray’s life. He had a strong bond with his sister, MaryBeth, and his caretakers, Roxanne, Michelle, Esther and Kyla. Both Mary Beth and the Adapt family love, cherish, and support Murray during difficult times. When he was dealing with sickness, Mary Beth did not object to medical treatment. She was eager to seek help to relieve the suffering. The waterside family had supported Murray and Mary Beth during difficult times as well. We all witnessed the loving attention involved in helping Murray. The scripture says in John 3:16: God expresses love toward mankind. How wonderful that we were able to show the same kind of love to Murray. Murray was loved, appreciated, cared for, and admired. Murray, If love could only have saved you, you never would have died. Such tender love proved to be a blessing to both Mary Beth and yourself. You left a happy family. “A happy family is a haven of safety and security” This family will continue to preserve and cherish your memory. Now You are experiencing love in a spiritual dimension with a different family. We are happy knowing that the Almighty welcomes you to your new home. God is the source of life, to him all life returns. May the Almighty be with you and May you rest in peace.

Murray was truly one of a kind. He would always bring a smile to my face when I would visit him at Waterside. When I would see him, he was always working on one of his gadgets and would tell me I’m fixing it. He had a great sense of humor and brought laughter to so many people. He will truly be missed and always hold a special place in my heart. My condolences to you MaryBeth and your entire family. It was a honor and privilege to know your brother.

I only met Murray 2 or 3 times briefly. I just remember seeing him each of those times and thinking he is the sweetest, most purist, kind hearted person I have ever met. The cards were stacked against him in life but he didn't care. He was just happy and strong and just enjoyed life. Such a beautiful soul. He probably never even remembered I existed but I looked to him in great admiration.

My deepest and most heartfelt condolences to Mary Beth and the rest of Murray's family as well as his extended Adapt family. I had the pleasure of meeting Murray when I was able to visit the Waterside residence and as he prepared to join my program virtually. Murray made my day with his smile and love for life. I enjoyed my brief encounters with him and only wish that I was able to have more with him. So from the 5030 Broadway family that he did not get to meet in person/virtually to all that will celebrate his life from today forward, my heart is filled with more love because of my interactions with Murray. May he rest in peace and continue doing in spirit what he did here on earth in the physical. You will be missed by many and all Murray!

On behalf of Murray's extended family at ADAPT and Waterside Plaza, my sincere condolences to Marybeth and Murray's family. Listening to stories from Murray over the years and then some more over the last few days from others, it is clear he was a part of a loving family and lived an amazing life. Murray was truly loved and cared for deeply by both his family as well as his extended family at ADAPT Waterside. His impact on others, myself especially, was immense. He was funny, witty but most of all a genuinely kind person. He could always make you laugh with a witty comment or a response to a question you may have asked and it was those moments that would often brighten people's days. He was the true definition of "living in the moment" and taught us this lesson on a daily basis. He always had a positive attitude, no matter the circumstance, another lesson he taught us on a daily basis. He will certainly be missed but will always remain a member of the ADAPT Waterside family who we will never forgot.

What would life be, if we didn't have footsteps to follow or memories to remember and angels to keep us ascended? Murray fulfilled his purpose through Laughter, Life and Love. I am Blessed to have shared an oreo cookie with him, listening to the ringing of his many telephones, watched him untangle his many chords/wires as there were many but Murray remained Patient!!!
To Murray's beloved family, you're in my heart, happy thoughts and prayers. Don't forget his journeys, as he was a Traveler of Life beyond Age and Time!!

Remembering Murray takes me back to the 1950s in New Hyde Park, New York. My grandfather built three houses in a row on Washington Avenue, his home, my Aunt Lilly’s , and my own. The Greenberg’s lived in the next house and we grew up almost as one family. So, I knew Murray from early childhood until the present time. And there are valuable life lessons gained from that knowledge. Throughout time and place, Murray had an innocence that never changed. He was never hardened by life to become jaded or cynical. He embraced life with great gusto and an ever-present sense of humor. He was, truly, able to live in the moment, unburdened by the worries and concerns most of us carry every day. It was a joy to be in Murray’s presence, to stop and observe the world through his eyes, and to appreciate the beauty of life’s simplest moments. Murray possessed a grace emblematic of his life-long spirit. As we say goodbye to such a well-loved man, we also remember and celebrate his innate kindness and compassion. What a better world we would all live in if more people were like Murray. Rest In Peace, dear friend.
