Eliot Lewiskin

Obituary of Eliot J. Lewiskin

Lewiskin, Eliot Jay, age 73 of Fort Lee, formerly of North Bergen, passed peacefully on January 5, 2022. Beloved husband of 37 years to Gloria. Cherished son of Miriam and her late husband Samuel. Dear brother of Irwin and his wife Beth. Adoring uncle of two and great-uncle to four.

Eliot was self-employed as a Certified Public Accountant. In addition, he served for over 15 years as Treasurer on the Board of The Regency Co-op.

An avid history buff, who relayed, to anyone who would listen, all the little-known facts behind history's events.

His interest in history led to his interest in coin collecting, which began at a very early age. He would think nothing of holding up the line in a supermarket, examining his change to see if he received anything valuable.

History also led to his interest in trains. Ask him anything about the intricate Trolley system that existed in New Jersey in the 1940's and the 1950's!

Eliot loved to travel and he and Gloria vacationed twice a year - one always included a cruise. His favorite cruises were the TCM cruises, where you can view old films on the big screen, such as the Sea Hawk or the Wizard of Oz.

Eliot was special - it was so easy for him to connect to everyone he met. Meet him and within an hour, you felt like you had known him all your life. Always with a smile and a twinkle in his eye. Whenever he tried to repeat a joke, he laughed so hard, you couldn't understand the punchline - but, you laughed anyway, because laugh was infectious.

His favorite quote was a reflection of how he hoped to be remembered: "We will be known forever by the tracks we leave."

Graveside services were conducted on January 6, with only the immediate family. Shiva will be held in the Favale Room at the Regency on Sunday through Tuesday (1/9-1/11) from 12 noon to 4 PM.
