Obituary of Maureen Palmquist

Maureen Pitchon Palmquist (February 7, 1952-October 14, 2022) died peacefully at her house on Friday night surrounded by her family. She fought a courageous battle with Metastatic Breast Cancer over the last 3 years. She was a force of nature to everyone that had a pleasure to know her. She was a devoted wife, loving sister, exceptional mother, a fiercely loved grandmother, a wonderful mother-in-law, a friend, a sister-in-law, a confidant, a teacher and an artist extraordinaire. Her smile and laughter would light up any room she walked into. An Art Teacher for over 30 years, Maureen’s impact on her students reaches far beyond her wildest dreams.

She was their safe haven, their mentor, their creator and their friend. After retirement, Maureen painted in her home studio and made jewelry to keep her creative juices flowing. However, her most prized job that she had was that of mother, grandmother, wife and sister. Married to John for nearly 48 years and together for 52 years, the two met at Ohio State University and have been inseparable ever since. Nonnie was a title that fit Maureen the best. Her littlest loves, McKayla and Jack, made her fight harder with each passing day. They simply adored their Nonnie. Maureen helped raise McKayla from birth, and the two formed a bond any child would be lucky to have with their grandparent. She was lucky enough to help raise Jack until the cancer took it’s toll.

She will be sorely missed by McKayla and Jack, but will be remembered and celebrated forever. As a loving mother to Jenna and a devoted sister to Renee, Maureen was sure to make every interaction memorable and impactful. She instilled empathy, kindness, and positivity in Jenna, and set an incredible example for McKayla and Jack for what they have to look forward to in growing up as siblings with Renee. Maureen is survived by her husband, John Palmquist, sister Renee Pitchon, daughter and son-in-law Jenna and Andy Stein,and her grandchildren, McKayla and Jack Stein.

There was be a private ceremony at Cedar Park Cemetery on Wednesday the 19th.
