Obituary of Claire Birnbaum
In loving memory of Claire Birnbaum, 93, who passed on October 29 surrounded by her family . Claire is survived by her two daughters Shelley and Leslie, her sons-in-law, Rich and Doug and her two grandsons, Jason and Alex and his wife, Marisa.
Claire was born on November 29, 1928 in the Bronx, NY. She graduated Walton High School with a commercial diploma. She went on to work at Loew’s theaters as an executive secretary where she had the opportunity to meet her movie and singer idol, Frank Sinatra. She married the love of her life, Al, to whom she was married for 58 years before his death in 2007. Her warmth and guidance made a secure and loving home for her children to grow up in. Her household was a gathering place for her daughters’ friends, who also grew to love her. She was an incredible cook and baker, loved to travel, and enjoyed movies, shows and everything Hollywood.
As a grandmother, her two grandsons were the center of her universe. She loved them fiercely, cherished every minute she spent with them, and was proud of the men they became.
In her later years, she loved to read and watch old movies. She had a vibrant personality and all who met her adored her. Though her health was failing for the last several years, her joy for life and indomitable spirit kept her pushing through her pain.
She will be deeply missed.
Services will be held on Monday, October 31 at 11:15 AM at Eden Memorial Chapels, 327 Main Street, Fort Lee, New Jersey. All are welcomed to attend.
