I just found out about Earle an very thrown off and flooding with memories---I interned on his ch 68 TV show in Boston. It was always fun around Earle--and although he graduated before me at Emerson---I was friends with his brother David--and would see Earle--and certainly David often around the school---Earle was, is-- part of my Emerson College/Boston days of treasured memories--and of course his Beth---those years at school---was great because Earle--and by way of David too--the Ziff boys--and Beth were fun people---my deepest condolences to the entire Ziff family----Peter Mones, Astoria NY

Having grown up across the street in Swampscott before their move to Marblehead from Auntie Marilyn and Hank (who told me my Indian brand sweater was guaranteed to pill), I knew Earl well and remember what a funny young man he was who did amazing impressions. I was so sad to hear this news and send my condolences and love ❤️ to his family and especially, Auntie Marilyn.

Earle and I met at WQTV-TV in Boston sometime around 1979 as we were both beginning our careers. It was a quirky station with a lot of experimental programming…we were just leaving the nest and in many ways, Earle was my on-air wingman. I anchored the afternoon news update followed by Earle hosting the movie series “Those Magnificent Talkies”. At 6p we were both part of the city’s only live TV newsmagazine, ‘Boston Live’. Earle was funny, irreverent, smart and kind. We didn’t have much back then, but we had our dreams and each other. Earle helped make this period one of the most pivotal in my life. I have had few TRUE friends in my life…I can count them on one hand. Earle has always occupied one of those digits and the memory of the times we shared, will stay in my heart forever.

I knew Earle from Emerson College and my one memory that stands out is when he did theater reviews and interviews with stars. One afternoon I was at the campus radio station and Earle said that he was going to interview a couple of the stars from the show "Broadway" at the Wilbur Theater. I mentioned that I knew one of the them. Earle surprised me by inviting me to join him and I went. There were a few of us who attended actually. We had a nice visit, I got visit with an old friend and Earle had a great interview. I am grateful for his kindness. My condolences to his family. You'll be in my prayers.

Wow! Too Young, Too Soon. Always a silly, funny man. I remember how he used to interact with his roommate at Emerson, Mark Levy. Earl never cut the guy any slack. Those two were like Abbott & Costello. Earl would always come up on me from behind, put his hand on my shoulder and yell HAYMSIE! It was never a dull moment when Earl was around. Great Guy, most of all a Phenomenal Human Being. We talked a few years back and there was a lot of ribbing. He will be missed in both body and spirit. My sincerest sympathies to David who is also a friend, Beth and the entire Ziff clan. RIP old buddy, possibly you will break legs and ace the audition for TV host on the Angels Network.

Perhaps they are not the stars, but rather openings in Heaven where the love of our lost ones pours through and shines down upon us to let us know they are happy. ~Author Unknown
Earle was a classmate at Emerson College. What a special human being....always had kind words to share. He will be missed. May his memory be a blessing.

For The entire Ziff family I hope this poem brings some peace in your hearts:
Every time you cry we cry together
Every smile of mine is yours to have
Everyday the sun shines down upon us
The love we share was blessed by God’s own hand
And as the starry sky revolves about this earthly plane
I’ll say good-bye to you until the day begins again
And if by chance we meet in dreams
I’ll take you by the hand, we’ll sail away to far and better lands.

Earle was a remarkable man in every sense of the word. He had a sense of humor the likes of which no other human being on earth will ever possess. When you were with Earle you felt his love. The world lost an amazing man today. So many wonderful memories. Love to you - BZ, Phil & Alec.

Mr. Ziff was also the voice along with Beth the voice of the NorJAC academic championships. Although Phil and Alec graduated many years ago, both would come back to volunteer all day, including being the traditional voices of the Championship Round.
.
The family are great people. Mr. Ziff is a treasure and will be missed many including the Leonia School Community. Earle and Beth raised two great young men - Alec and Phil.
My prayers are with the Ziff family during this very sad time.
With great sadness,
Ed Bertolini
